Life’s a movie, or so I’m told. Your cruise holiday, however, has the potential to be a cinematic blockbuster. And best of all there’s a starring role waiting for you.
The question is what role will you take and what kind of blockbuster will it be?
Perhaps a romance, a musical, an action drama or a screwball comedy? Better still, one of those sci-fi-fantasy-spaghetti-western-horror-thriller-vampire-travelogue chick flicks that, come to think of it, no one ever makes.
The choice really is yours.
Choosing your co-stars
You get to choose where the action is set, what scene changes occur, who some of your co-stars might be and even whether you’d like the whole experience to be suitable for kids or adults only.
Of course, your ability to influence the end result doesn’t stop there. You also get to adapt the screenplay. Few Hollywood actors are allowed to write their own lines, but on a sea cruise that’s exactly what you’re able to do.
Soundtrack
Let’s not forget either, you have a big say in wardrobe and make-up. And as for the soundtrack, that’s down to you as well. Just choose the musical score that best suits your holiday mood, and leave the rest to your trusty iPod.
In the film world only a limited number of people wield this kind of power and being fabulously wealthy probably helps. But you don’t have to be.
It’s well known that major films need multi million pound budgets. However, if you opt for a cruise deal, your production could be up and running for as little as £449.
Heroes and villains
Every cinema-goer has experienced that thrill at the start of a movie as they try to anticipate what’s coming. When you embark on your cruise holiday, it will be no different.
As you get acquainted with the cast – otherwise known as your crew and fellow passengers – you’ll soon be speculating about what plots and subplots lie ahead.
Before you know it, you’ll be playing spot the hero and villain, while trying to identify the romantic lead and femme fatale.
And you’ll be asking yourself key questions such as will the second pastry chef be revealed as a time-travelling dragon slayer? Or might the deputy cruise director turn out to be an alcoholic ex-priest hot on the trail of a deadly eco-terrorist?
Close to the action
One of the great joys of cruising is that as you set sail you cannot know for sure who you are going to meet, what you are going to see or indeed what is going to happen next. But whatever transpires, you can be sure you’ll always be close to the action.
Not for you the role of passive observer seated in a darkened movie theatre. Instead you’ll be a leading player in the unfolding drama. And you’ll experience the whole thing in glorious 3D, without having to wear one of those wretched glasses.
Escape into other worlds
Most movie fans look for a good storyline. One that develops against a constantly changing backdrop, and builds to an unforgettable climax. Well guess what, that’s just another way of describing a cruise and stay holiday.
Sign up to one of these and you’ll have everything any movie buff could wish for. Fascinating characters, a chance to escape into other worlds, spellbinding scenery that keeps changing and finally a thrilling denouement in a memorable location.
Like the very best cinema, this can be event-packed, edge-of-your-seat stuff. The kind of entertainment experience where there’s always something different to look forward to and you know the ending will be extra special, staying with you for years to come.
Oscar winning
There’s no doubt, once you’ve starred in your very own ocean motion picture – delivering, of course, an Oscar winning performance – you’ll soon be thinking about the sequel.
So what cinematic masterpiece will you go for next? Will it be Treasure Island or Autumn in New York, South Pacific or Pirates of the Caribbean, Erik the Viking or Around the world in 80 days? I could go on, but I think you get the picture.
As I said earlier, the choice really is yours.
