The short answer is no. However, the longer answer is yes.
Well kind of. You see, while cruising may not turn you into a werewolf, it could easily turn you into something almost as remarkable . . . a wherewolf. By that I mean someone who keeps asking, ‘where’ questions. Where’s the bar? Where’s the pool? Where do I go for my next cruise?
It’s that last question in particular that’s most commonly uttered by a wherewolf. It’s also the hardest to answer, not least because these days cruisers and would-be cruisers are hugely spoilt for choice.
Suitable holiday
With so many possibilities to choose from, each as inviting as the next, your search for a suitable holiday package can be challenging.
Among the challenges you face are: do I go for the same region or switch to somewhere a bit different?
Should I stick with the ship and cruise line I know or try another vessel operated by a rival company?
Culture or shopping
And anyway, what do I really want from my holiday?
Am I looking for action or inaction? Comfort and relaxation, or a more character building experience? A well known, iconic cruise destination or somewhere a little less high profile?
Then there’s that question I ask myself every day.
Am I a scenery-seeking, history-hugging culture vulture or more of a bar-hopping, sun-worshipping shopaholic?
Exacting demands
This brings me to perhaps the most critical question of all: where can I afford?
Luckily, cruising is a cost effective form of escapism. Whatever package you choose, you’re likely to get decent value for money.
So where should you be heading for your next cruise?
Well with so many excellent packages available, it would be impossible to list all my favourites. But let me offer three suggestions, one of which might just meet the exacting demands of a wherewolf like you.
Where the weather won’t let you down
If consistently good weather is important, you might want to cast your eye over these Dubai and Emirates cruises.
For example, there’s this 7 Night Dubai cruise on Costa Favolosa. For just £849 per person, you can visit Muscat, Fujairah, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain, as well as Dubai.
And as part of Virgin’s Rockstar service you’ll also enjoy direct Virgin Atlantic flights plus a complimentary chauffeur-driven car to and from the airport.
Where the scenery is spectacular
Sometimes you have to check the itinerary carefully to know if a cruise offers enough scenery to meet your high expectations. Other times all you have to do is look at the name of the cruise.
In the case of the Rocky Mountaineer Tour and Alaska Cruise there can be little doubt what’s in store for you.
You’ll get two nights aboard the Rocky Mountaineer Train plus six days of inland activities. The list includes Banff National Park Tour, Banff Gondola, Glacier Experience, Icefields Parkway Tour, Yoho National Park Tour and Vancouver City Tour.
On top of that you’ll enjoy a seven night Alaska cruise on either ms Volendam or Celebrity Century. Sailing from Vancouver in British Columbia, you’ll get the full Alaskan experience with stops at Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan.
Where everything is upside down
Sooner or later everyone has to head down under and experience a world where, relatively speaking, life goes on the wrong way up.
There are few better ways to do this than with an Australasia Cruise. It’s worth adding that most of these holidays include a complimentary chauffeur-driven car to and from the airport.
If, however, Australia belongs in your ‘been there, done that’ list, you might consider this 15 night cruise on Rhapsody of the Seas instead.
It’s still got a touch of the Antipodean about it, but you set off from Honolulu and continue on to Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora, before arriving in Auckland, New Zealand, just over a fortnight later.
Unleash the wolf within
Well I hope there’s something of interest there.
If you’ve only recently started cruising, don’t be surprised if you find your inner wherewolf already straining at the leash.
It’s only natural, so there’s no need to worry.
This is how I see it. You’ve had a fantastic holiday and now you simply want more. Specifically, you want an answer to that most urgent of cruiser questions . . . where to next?
